Transport Awareness Day and Truck Show

NHTAG
The Newcastle transport industry will come together to celebrate the diversity and achievements of the industry and break down the barriers between the community and the transport industry on the road, as the Newcastle Hunter Transport Awareness Group brings the Newcastle Hunter Transport Awareness Day and Truck Show to the Hunter.

Now in its 23rd year, the Transport Awareness Day will again be held at the Maitland Showground on October 29 with a huge line-up of truck displays, live entertainment, transport and safety related government authorities, and children’s entertainment.

As with previous years, the Transport Awareness Day will kick off with a 200 strong convoy of trucks and other transport vehicles leading from the Sandgate markets site and travel to Maitland Showground from 8am.

Secretary of the Newcastle Hunter Transport Awareness Group, Leonnie Carter said the 2017 show is shaping up to be the best Transport event in the Hunter region and is a great opportunity for the industry to come together and showcase the positive economic benefits the industry brings to the Hunter.
“Without the heavy haulage industry, our country would come to a standstill. When you think about what we contribute to the economy in terms of agricultural, industrial and civil transportation, if we weren’t there to get our essential resources from point A to point B, many of our farmers, mines and industries just wouldn’t survive.
For the past few years the Transport Awareness Day, which for years was held at the Newcastle Foreshore, has been known as just a truck show.
But under the direction of a new committee of industry professionals, we are taking the Transport Awareness Day back to its original form and making it a transport awareness and family fun day that’s more than just trucks.

All proceeds raised from the Transport Awareness Day will this year be donated to the Mark Hughes Foundation, Ronald McDonald House and Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service. In previous years, the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service has
received in excess of $1.4 million dollars from the event.
