Supporting the Hunter for nearly 30 years

McDonald Jones has been building architecturally designed homes for almost 30 years. From day one, the business has been about more than bricks and mortar, with the expressed aim of being committed to realising the dreams and supporting the futures of the families across our building footprint.
Despite the rapid growth of the company and expansion of our services into regional and metropolitan areas in NSW, Southeast QLD, and the ACT and surrounds, the company’s homeland is and will always be the Hunter region. The head office is located in Thornton and the Hunter has been at the heart of everything they do.
McDonald Jones was founded on family and community values and these have stayed true despite continuous growth. The company strives to support those who support them and has made a commitment to providing communities with the best possible chance of a healthy, long and happy future.
The McDonald Jones Charitable Foundation is an opportunity to distribute much needed funds to areas in need within the communities. Specifically, the Foundation is focused on three sectors:
Health, Research and Education / Training. Some of the Hunter organisations that have benefited from donations over the past 12 months include:
· Aspect Hunter School / Autism Spectrum: a school that provides education for young children with autism spectrum disorder, helping them to develop the skills to become as independent as possible and to enable them to succeed in the wider community.
· Hunter Life Education: providing positive, healthy lifestyle messages to children in the Hunter.
· Hunter Medical Research Institute: a research institute achieving internationally-recognised outcomes in prevention, curing and treating a diverse range of serious illnesses.
· Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service: providing a free, aeromedical, search and rescue service for people in need.
A current project is Build for a Cure, benefiting Children’s Cancer Institute, a body that is conducting vital medical research into the lives of all children with cancer. They are the only medical research institute in Australia wholly dedicated to childhood cancer. To help this cause McDonald Jones is building one of their architecturally designed homes, the Havana One, in Glenmore Park, Sydney, in partnership with the Wearn Brothers Group and Austral Bricks. The home was completed late September, with landscaping and furnishings included thanks to Freedom, Electrolux and Panasonic, and will be auctioned at the end of October. The lucky new homeowner will purchase a quality McDonald Jones built home with everything they need to move right in, and the knowledge that they have purchased a home with a soul. The proceeds of the auction will be donated to Children’s Cancer Institute’s cause – to put an end to childhood cancer.
