Belmont Airport sold

Former Belmont Airport has been sold by current owners Mirvac to a consortium who have plans to return the property to its former glory days as a transport hub.
The group who purchased the property in April includes Hunter-based freestyle racing pilot Matt Hall of Matt Hall Racing, Newcastle Helicopters, Skydive the Beach, Airborne, and a private investor.
Plans for the airport include an upgrade of the facilities at the airfield which is to be used by helicopters, ultralights, and small planes. The group will run their own businesses from the site and also have plans on providing charter services and regular passenger flights.
“As a group we are really excited about the opportunities this presents for us and the local community in what is a beautiful part of the world,” Matt Hall said.
“There will no doubt be jobs created and a boost for tourism and hospitality operators due to the ease of access that the reopening and upgrading of the airport will bring.”
