Michael Ferris has joined Australian Recruiting Group (ARG) as Newcastle Branch Manager.
Michael is Tertiary Qualified and has over 13 years experience in Recruitment and Human Resources. Michael’s primary business focus is on Recruitment and Labour Hire for the Construction and Mining Industries throughout Newcastle, the Central Coast and the Hunter Valley.
The Hunter Valley Research Foundation’s (HVRF) Director of Research, Simon Deeming will join the health economics team at the Hunter Medical Research Institute (HMRI). Simon joined the HVRF in 2007 and has provided solid leadership in the field of regional economics. This appointment strengthens the growing links between the HVRF and HMRI.
HVRF has appointed Senior Research Fellow Shanthi Ramanathan as Acting Director of Research (DoR). Shanthi has extensive experience in research project management, including managing the HVRF’s groundbreaking Wellbeing Watch program. As DoR she will be a major ‘voice’ for the research program and will also manage the Foundation’s diverse research team.
SALA'S FUNCTION CENTRE HUNTER PARKING & STORAGE
Darren Parmenter has commenced in a new role as Business Development Manager at Sala’s Function Centre Warner’s Bay. Darren will also be working with Hunter Parking & Storage, which is owned by the same operators. Darren’s previous role was as Marketing & Business Development Manager at Newcastle Jockey Club.

Baker Love Lawyers has welcomed Robert Starke, a talented family and commercial lawyer. His experience includes working with international legal firms in Sydney, in-house at a multinational manufacturing company, and in general legal practice. He holds an MBA to complement his legal qualifications. A former professional ice hockey player, Rob now plays with the Newcastle North Stars of the Australian Ice Hockey League.
A recent addition to Jirsch Sutherland’s team marks a season of expansion for the organisation. Business recovery specialist, Emma Mos, brings almost 9 years of experience to the Newcastle reconstruction firm. Originally from Devon in the UK, Emma previously worked in the specialist business recovery department of a large regional Chartered Accountants practice in Torquay.
Co-owner and director of Forsythes Recruitment, Geoff Crews, has been re-elected to the Board of the US headquartered NPA, The Worldwide Recruiting Network for a second, two year term. Geoff is one of only two Australian directors. NPA is a member-owned, global recruiting network.
