Newcastle Interchange opening
On Sunday 15 October, Newcastle Interchange will be open to the public and rail services will commence operation.
Located west of Stewart Avenue in Wickham, Newcastle Interchange is the brand new major public transport hub serving the Newcastle area. It will be a gateway to Newcastle and the Hunter Region.
Newcastle Interchange will be the final stop for customers travelling to Newcastle on the Central Coast and Newcastle, and Hunter train lines. A fully accessible multi-modal transport interchange, Newcastle Interchange will connect customers with trains, buses, taxis, light rail (from 2019), and private vehicles. It will be a key hub in Newcastle’s new integrated transport network.
From Sunday if you are travelling to or from the old Civic or Newcastle stations, these will still be serviced by the 110 buses but will now be from the Newcastle Interchange instead of Hamilton Station.
The Newcastle Interchange is being delivered as part of a broad program of work including the truncation of the former heavy rail line, new train stabling and turnback facilities to the east of Hamilton Station, signaling and track work, a new pedestrian bridge and new staff facilities.
