Light Up Newcastle 2016
The Newcastle Rotary Clubs is inviting everyone to join in on a free community event to celebrate Chinese New Year and Light up Newcastle with red lanterns on the evening of Saturday 13 February 2016.
The event helps local Rotary Clubs raise greatly needed funds for the Mission to Seafarers and the Newcastle Maritime Centre.
The Mission to Seafarers assists sailors visiting the Port of Newcastle with a ‘home away from home’ at the Seafarers Centre at Wickham. Currently over 40,000 seafarers visit the Port of Newcastle and over 13,000 use the services offered by the Mission each year, with transport to the Centre, shopping, banking, healthcare and social and spiritual support.
The 2016 lantern walk will raise money for a new upgrade to the kitchen at the Seafarers Centre.
Corporate packages are available, starting from just $100.
As the sun sets over Newcastle, the foreshore will form a snake of lights along the water front to be matched by yachts and boats decorated in lanterns on the harbour to truly “Light up Newcastle”.
