Larry Platt recognised for innovation
Larry Platt, The Advitech Group's Executive Chairman, was recently recognised by Newcastle Innovation, a division of the University of Newcastle, for his commitment to innovation over many decades.
Larry was the recipient of the 2015 Leonard Award for Innovation, acknowledging his position as a local community leader who supports and promotes innovation in the Hunter.
Larry was presented with the award at the Excellence in Innovation lunch at Merewether Surf House. He also took part in a discussion panel along with four University researchers who received 'Excellence in Innovation' awards for their world class research and innovative developments.
"Innovation has been my passion for as long as I can remember.
It is at the core of everything we do, and is a key driver of the success of The Advitech Group," said Larry.
The Advitech Group aspires to lead the way in STEM&M – their acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Manufacturing. The Group’s philosophy is that innovation emerges from the foundations of STEM&M, in an environment of encouragement and support. Innovation cannot be forced and cannot occur where there are too many constraints. Larry believes the Group’s “culture of flexibility, adaptability and openness” has led to the gradual evolution of innovative products, services and methodologies over many years.
