$2M refurb for historic Maitland town hall
Work to upgrade Maitland’s historic Town Hall has commenced.
Built in 1890 with extensive renovations in 1934, Maitland Town Hall is listed on the State Heritage Register and provides a significant link to Maitland’s history. Maitland City Council Mayor, Cr Peter Blackmore says “These refurbishments will help improve the facility’s commercial viability, the functionality for existing and new hirers, as well as maintaining the space as a valuable community asset.”
The project is funded by the Hunter Infrastructure and Investment Fund which is managed by the Hunter Development Corporation. Kingston Building Australia Pty Ltd has been appointed as the head contractor to carry out the associated building works and is scheduled for completion in November this year.
